What do I need?
There are many different kinds or levels of editing, and you might not know what to ask for. Here’s a brief rundown of basic types of editing.
Developmental Editing
A developmental edit is a macro edit, focused on story, plot, and character development. It identifies problems, what might be missing, what might be overdone, and places that need work. This process helps you bring together—creating if necessary—plot elements and storylines, weaving them into a cohesive story.
Line Editing
Line editing is sentence level editing. It addresses style and flow, revising for clarity.
Copy Editing
Copy editing is grammar, spelling, and continuity.
Proofreading
Proofreading is the last look at a manuscript, a sharp eye looking for any errors that made it through editing, preferably by someone who hasn’t been involved in the editing process.
Very few editors are skilled at every type of edit and we’re no different. But between Ellen, Lauren, and Kalene we offer excellence at every level. You can choose to work with just one of us, any two of us, or all of us.
No Safe Words, LLC offers developmental editing (Lauren, Kalene), combined line and copy (Ellen, Lauren), and proofreading (Ellen, Lauren).

This:
A peaceful planet under assault. One young couple stands in the way.
One year after the war bot attack, Sidonia has rebuilt. But the political marriage meant to guarantee stability for the nation is fragile. Love is not as simple as signing your name on a document.
With terrorists infiltrating the planet, King Vincent is overwhelmed by the weight of duty while the queen feels overlooked. When she decides to call it quits, each step away from home brings her that much closer to the enemy.
Becomes this:
A peaceful planet once again under attack. One king stands in the way.
Just a year after the war bot invasion that almost destroyed the planet forever, Sidonia has rebuilt, with their new king and queen at the vanguard. But the marriage, entered into to guarantee an ally and stability for the nation, is fragile. Love is not as simple as signing your name on a document and the new queen has a mind of her own.
Now, terrorists are infiltrating the capital and the death toll is rising. King Vincent is overwhelmed and the queen feels overlooked. When she decides to call it quits, she runs—straight into the enemy.

Big Plans for Shorty
I have big plans for Shorty and his friends. 2020 will bring several of my solo projects out into the light—Including Fight for Doomsday – Shorty’s Command, Book 1. I’ve roughed out the story arc for six books. And I have Tom Edward designing a completely new set of covers.
Because Shorty deserves respect.
Blue Sun Armada
In 2020, I will also release a story about cyborgs searching for Earth. There might be (definitely will be) mechs, space battles, and an epic cast of characters. Watch for the first volume of Blue Sun Armada this spring. I like to think of this one as my Game of Thrones in space but written during one lifetime. (I kid, George…if you happen to be reading this.)
The Last Reaper
Don’t forget, Descent of the Reaper is for sale now in Amazon KU. JN Chaney and I have been planning the final books of this series. It’s really time to take things up a notch. If you’ve read it and haven’t left a review, now’s the time. (I am particularly fond of five-star reviews! They make me smile inside. Lol.)
How many books will there be? (A few more. How’s that for vague?)
Free – December 21st
Saturday, December 21st The Grendel Uprising omnibus/bundle, usually $6.99, is yours for free. What could go wrong with Viking/Scifi? If you’ve read it, thank you! If you haven’t, hook your friends up.
I’m thankful for
Earlier this week, I received an alarming text from my mother. She commutes about two hours a day on a busy highway, sometimes on the weekend. Last Sunday there was a horrible pile up that resulted in tragedy, but she wasn’t hurt. There are days I can’t believe all the things I take for granted. We had a long talk about what she’d seen and how it affected her more than she realized.
As a police officer, I’ve worked fatalities too often. I can’t say enough prayers of thanks right now.
